Hi, we are building kolum.earth - the one-stop technology solution for carbon pricing in international trade. 🌍
Carbon pricing regulations in international trade are quite exciting. Why? Because, for the first time, there are direct costs associated with emissions embedded in supply chains, meaning that organisations are incentivised to produce and purchase goods with lower emissions while other countries are encouraged to introduce their own carbon pricing regulations as well. This leads to a direct positive impact on global carbon emissions. 📉
While exciting in theory, the reality is that it poses significant challenges for organisations. They must:
✅ Comply with complex regulatory requirements, both for imports and exports.
📊 Track emissions in the required format back to the root of their supply chains.
💰 Integrate the additional cost factor of "carbon price" into their overall business strategy.
🤝 Harmonise their local carbon pricing regulations with those of other countries and regions, as well as with other emission trading schemes.
That is why kolum.earth exists: to build technology that simplifies the lives of organisations involved in international trade, assisting them in streamlining and optimising their reporting obligations, supply chain strategy, and carbon costs. 🌍
We developed our first prototype last year and have gained fantastic initial customers who greatly contributed to shaping our product roadmap. 🛣️
Currently, we are assembling a small team to implement the insights we've gathered over the past six months. We prioritise quality over quantity, team conviction over hierarchical structures, and focus and productivity over endless decision cycles. 👨👩👧👦
We are currently in full building mode with a string core team and therefore do not have any openings.
However, if you still think that you would be a great fit, please reach out to [email protected] and [email protected] regardless. We're always looking for exceptional individuals and will explore how we can work together.
kolum.earth currently consists of the Helge, Marius, Niko (CTO), Ronny (Senior Backend Engineer) and Philipp (Senior Frontend Engineer). We are at the earliest stage possible and are seeking exceptional individuals to help build kolum from the ground up. There is a lot of room for experimentation, plenty to learn, and inevitable mistakes to be made, all of which we embrace. While some aspects are still a bit messy, others are becoming more structured.
Through conversations with > 200 affected companies, we have gained clarity about what we want to build in the next six months. We built a prototype at the end of last year and successfully onboarded our first paying (enterprise) customers. Our sales pipeline continues to expand weekly. As the EU CBAM evolves, so do we, with other countries also beginning to implement their own CBAMs. An ecosystem of national emission trading schemes is emerging. It is an exciting time.
We maintain close contact with our fantastic initial users, engaging with them daily to grasp their needs, internal processes, and software tools. They are central to our mission, and our sole objective is to simplify their lives and processes. We do not have any ego implemented in our product roadmap but instead serve our user’s needs and preferences. Every feature we could potentially build is questioned and discussed and ultimately agreed upon together. If we don’t find a consensus, we drop the idea or iterate until we have one.
